Opening: 01 Magazine Group Show

We can’t tell you how excited we are for the 01 Magazine group show happening at 107 Shaw this week. We’re big fans of 01, and have long wanted to attend their impressive group photography shows.

The huge roster of artists involved includes Peter Sutherland, Bree Apperley, Jessica Eaton, Leo Fitzpatrick, Niall McLelland, Nicholas Gottland, Coley Brown, Mel Paget—it’s crazy. The opening is March 11th, starting at 7pm.

Looking forward to a Ryan Trecartin screening of his 2009 Trill-ogy Comp series, Sibling Topics, K-Corea INC.K and P.opular S.ky, tomorrow, Tuesday March 9th, at Double Double Land. It’s $5 and starts at 8pm.

Hugh Scott Douglas: An Invitation to Lubberland

Opening tonight at Clint Roenisch is emerging artist Hugh Scott Douglas’ thesis exhibit An Invitation to Lubberland. The show, which runs only till Saturday, is an ode to boredom and laziness and revolves around craft techniques like potato-stamping (shown above).

Tonight, Bad Day hosts the New York Fashion Week Finissage and homecoming party for designer Rita Liefhebber. The event is being held at Double Double Land in Toronto’s Kensington Market, commencing at 8:00PM with DJs LBC & Baller followed by Bruce LaBruce and Rory Them Finest.

Big in ‘10: Blues

Blues, the new guitar band featuring Sarah Richardson and Valerie Uher (ex-Creeping Nobodies, Memories Forever), just posted a sample of demo recordings on their Myspace page—the songs are so good we couldn’t wait till Monday to publish this entry. Here’s hoping that 2010 will be the year of Blues.
