I just acquired a copy of this delightful new book of poems by Spencer Moody and Anthony Anzalone—and I love it! It is published by our friends, Teenage Teardrops in LA, and is the perfect size to become my travel companion for the next little while. More info here!

While Stan Brakhage opted against the use of sound in his films, tonight at Cinefamily LA, Lee Ranaldo will provide a live musical performance to their screening of the beautiful Text of Light—not as a score, but as a foregrounding for a “further element for improvisation”.
Joining him will be saxophonist Ulrich Krieger and guitarist Alan Licht, collaborating in a kind of “mixed-media collage”. You can see a recording of a past performance they’ve done here.

Blown away by this short film, Aanteni, shot by video Todd Cole for Rodarte in Hawthorne, California. Truly beyond the final frontier, the film includes an original soundtrack by No Age (Issue 1). It’s hard to ignore the Mulleavy sisters’ genius, especially when offset by such awe-inspiring settings. Incredible.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out this excerpt from a film by Brian Butler, starring Kenneth Anger and Vincent Gallo. Night of Pan has screened at Cannes, the Athens Biennale, and premiered in London last week accompanied with a live sound performance and projections.
